FAQ's - Your Questions Answered!

When are rehearsals?

Monday nights from 7:00 - 10:00pm in St. Catharines

What's the commitment

We typically perform 4 concerts a year plus our annual Singathon Fundraiser along with the occasional guest appearance at other community events.

When are auditions held?

Auditions are held in late August/early September and occasionally throughout the year. A full season schedule will be provided upon your successful audition.

What can I expect in my audition?

• Please prepare one song of your choice (popular or classical preferred)...something that features YOUR best vocal ability!

• Don't worry, an accompanist will be provided, however please bring copies of your music.

• In addition, there will be an ear-test, range-test, and sight singing assessment (it's ok if you don't know how to sight sing...this is just for reference!)

...THAT'S IT! EASY!

What kind of music do we sing?

We sing it all! From major classical works to new commissions, contemporary compositions to Christmas favourites - including Handel's Messiah - popular, opera and broadway choruses and so much more! We promise it'll be fun and worth the effort!

Do I need music?

Don't worry about that! Chorus Niagara will supply you with all the music you will need!

Is there a membership fee?

Yes. However, no singer will be turned away due to financial barriers as we offer full and partial bursaries. Membership for the season (September to June) is $375 which can be made in full or instalments.

Associate Membership at Chorus Niagara

The associate membership program enables singers to acquire an appreciation of the wide range of skills, knowledge, and abilities required to put together a performance by Chorus Niagara.

As an associate member you will be paired with a “Buddy” from your voice section, who will make themself available to help you familiarize yourself with the procedures of Chorus Niagara. Associate members are invited to sing at all general rehearsals and non-concert singing events, such as Singathon, and are invited to attend dress rehearsals and concerts, but will not participate in these events.

Fees for associate members are the same as those for regular members of Chorus Niagara. Associate members, unlike regular members, will receive one ticket free of charge to each of the four concerts in appreciation for their commitment to Chorus Niagara.

When an associate member might feel that they are prepared to be re-evaluated for regular membership, they may address this directly with Robert Cooper by making a written request via letter or e-mail.  Otherwise, associate members will be re-evaluated at the end of the season during ‘placements’ which all members of Chorus Niagara are required to take part in.
